Thought id Chime in.
Ive heard both sides to the argument,

im on the side that stretches, but no crazy stretches here.
I'm currently running a small stretch on my wheels
18x9 with a 235/40, and 18x10 with a 265/35
its a small stretch, and was done for fitment, and performance. as there are gains when stretching, I.E. Stiffer sidewall.

the guys out there running a 215/205 on a 9 are crazy!
id be afraid to drive on that! lol
