While eating at the Mellow Mushroom in Asheville, I got to try something called Gaelic Ale made there in Asheville by the Highland Brewing Co. I has asked our waitress for a recommendation on the basis that Fat Tire was my favorite beer at the moment, and this was basically a better version of that. The beer had a very toasted malty biscuit taste to it with only a very slight bitter hoppe finish. I really enjoyed it and wish it was readily available down here.

Yeah... Highland is pretty awesome. You can find some of their beer at Greene's and Total Wine & More up here in Greenville.

Sweet, I'll definitely have to pick up a 6 pack if I can find one. Calton, you have any suggestions for something that's similar?

I haven't had their Gaelic Ale yet I don't think... Let me check around up here and see what I can find. I need to go beer shopping again pretty soon anyways. I could pick you up a six-pack while I'm out and you can just hit me back when you come out to a meet up here. Worst-case, I'm planning a trip to Asheville sometime in the future to go brewery hopping, I could pick some up in NC if that's what it comes down to.

BTW: Have you tried Sweet Water 420? It is pretty good... Check out some of the beers I've reviewed earlier in this thread, you might find one or two that sound appealing. All of the ones in this thread are available in my area as well...

Having a new beer tonight...

Terrapin Side Project The Dark Side Belgian Style Imperial Stout. It is a limited release beer from Terrapin in ATL. It's not too bad. If you like Oatmeal Stouts, you will love it. Too bad you probably won't be able to find it. It even comes in a Deuce-Deuce. :D
