Anybody know where I can find some thermal foil tape? Need to cover and wrap up those o2 sensor wires when I get done with them today.

I'll check when i get home, i might have some, and the good shit too... its gold = bling... :) but seriously i'll check when i'm out of class. I'm sure Lowes would have some, or at least I assume they would. If not Lowes, then perhaps walmart, or a local heating/cooling place? Autozone/Advance/O'failies didn't have any?

A lot of the "foil" tapes that I've seen, and one roll that I bought unfortunately, doesn't actually have any metal insulation on the back of them. Take the "Duck" brand foil tape that I got, once I peel a strip of it off, I can actually see through it. That's not going to protect the wires very well. Advance does have two DEI Heat Sheaths for $15 each, but I was hoping I could find some of that tape for like a quarter of that cost.

Also on the "Duck" brand tape... It doesn't hold up well to normal heating and cooling duct heat variations as the adhesive loses adhesion at higher temperatures. So I can't imagine it staying in place as a 'heat shield' on a car for very long at all. How big of an area do you need to cover Porter?

It's about a two foot length of wire going from the o2 sensors back up to the main harness. The way it has to be run places it near the headers, which was my problem in the first place. It burned through the plastic heat shield and melted the wires. I need some thick thermal tape or I'll just go ahead and get the DEI "heat sheaths" from Advance.

Could you not mount the wires to something solid to hold them in place so they don't hit the headers? Or is there no room? Haven't look at the engine bay/setup of an LS1 FD, so I have no idea what you are working with here...

its very tight, but you might be able to use some of the heat resistant fabric to help out... the stuff i have i dont think will help :(
